This is a new direction for me as I have included a person in the makeup of the piece.

Lewinnick a la Austen
on the 21st October 2026 I breakfasted at the Lewinnick Lodge, this was the day that storm Austen hit our shores and on leaving the lodge I spotted many white horses galloping towards the shoreline.
The skies were topped with fast moving fluffy clouds but my way was stopped by a Keep Out sign due to coastal erosion. I was captured by the beauty and power of the storm while protected from its worst by a simple sign. I took some photographs and when I returned home really liked the composition of the fence being included - hence it has been kept as a focal point.

Biography
After a full career in the Corporate arena I returned to my first love, that of painting.
In my youth, I was lucky enough to have Paul Bainbridge MRSS, as an art teacher. Paul is now a renowned sculptor. Here, with his guidance, I was able to trial all types of artistic expression, but I always returned to painting. Watercolours were my initial medium, but I now find that the acrylics can give me the best of both the oil and watercolour worlds.
Returning to painting, I Initially tried painting Earth subjects like plants and trees but after visiting Feurtaventura, in the Canary Islands, I fell in love with the ever changing beauty and temperament of the sea; one minute, tranquil and peaceful, the next tempestuous and dark!!
I now recognise that my true passion in art is Oceanic and have the luxury of living on the Newquay coastline, so I have plenty of inspiration. I must also mention the impact that other artists - especially photographers - have had on my work, from my sister, Judith's amazing photographic eye to the Cornish drone photographer whose ability to capture atmosphere in a moment has been truly inspirational.
My aim now is to be able to share my vision and passion for the sea through art and hope you will like my paintings.
